Rebecca hayesTell us about your past work experience | education:
With the exception of opening a restaurant, I have spent most of my career selling luxury goods. My background includes fine art, fine fashion and fine jewelry; fine interiors felt like the obvious next step.
I love that every day I have the opportunity to learn something new and that I am surrounded by so much heritage and craftsmanship.

Where were you raised?
I was born in Israel and moved to the US when I was 10. I spent my early teen years in Ohio and then went off to college in NYC.

What is/was your most rewarding project and why?
My most rewarding project is always the next one I’m working on.

How would you characterize your design style?
My design style has evolved so much over the years. The only thing that has remained consistent through the evolutions is my love of color. I can’t image living in a home that didn’t have color!

In your experience working at Lee Jofa thus far, what is/are some of your favorite product lines and why?
I adore almost everything from Creations Metaphores. The depth of color is incredible and they’re ability to combine classic and funky is so very French.

What is your favorite color?
If its Thursday its ruby red, if its Friday its Tahitian gold, if its Saturday……

What do you like to do in your spare time?
My husband and I love to entertain; its rare that a week goes by without having hosted at least one dinner party.

What is your favorite food?
Caviar and French fries, not necessarily in the same meal.

Where do you draw your inspiration from? Is there anything you do to get you inspired when you hit a slump?
When I’m in a slump I have found the best cure is a trip, often times just the planning stages will help get me through. I draw my inspiration from visits to a museum, the view from my apartment, my friends, iconic women and vintage magazines.
